Safe Power Derating for Gleeride A7 Max

8 March 2026

Reducing the power (PWR) setting on Liviae controllers, common in high power electric scooters like the Gleeride A7 Max, is one of the smartest modifications for enhancing safety, extending range, and prolonging component life. These dual-motor machines, often rated at 5000W per motor on 72V systems, default to 100% output via P15 settings, pulling extreme 100–300A bursts that overtax stock 12AWG wiring, fragile OEM batteries, and BMS. This results in rapid heating, voltage drops, common E05 errors, and potential fire hazards. Derating to 70% (or 30–50A equivalent per controller) caps total draw at a safer 70–100A, aligning with typical harness ratings of 25–40A continuous while preserving practical speeds of 60–90km/h. Riders commonly gain 15–40% more range from this tweak alone, thanks to smoother acceleration, less waste heat, and reduced battery sag. Extending typical 80km trips toward 100km+ without sacrificing much thrill.

To apply it, power on the scooter and hold the 3rd and 5th button on dash for 3 to 5 seconds to access the P-Settings menu, scroll to P15 (current limit) using Mode, adjust downward with Power or short presses, then long press Power to save and exit—repeat on both controllers for balance. After the change, conduct a test ride: throttle hard for 5 minutes and verify wires feel warm but never too hot to hold, confirming the derate is effective. Beyond immediate safety gains, this extends battery cycles by avoiding deep discharges, and provides a more controlled ride feel overall. Settings can always be increased later if needed, but 70% offers an ideal starting point for reliability on demanding rides.

It is recommended to reduce the PWR values on all scooters drop shipped from China, with motor power above 6000W. The process is generally similar.
